"Try to be a rainbow in someones cloud," says Maya Angelou.
The Guardian listed several quotes by this amazing, awe-inspiring lady and each one of them is a life lesson, as far as I am concerned. See the full article here.
Each one of us has to create a better world, at least where we are, says Ms. Angelou, and with each of our actions let's help make lives better.
Like Ms. Angelou says "There is no greater agony, than bearing an untold story inside you." So tell your stories as they are. And if this is your dream, by achieving it, you will help make the world around you a better place. You can become a rainbow in a cloud.
for those who love good prose... Suprose aims to encourage and support literature, authors, books and audiences of SA prose. Think of this as a watering hole where conversations begin and friendships develop.
What is Suprose?
Welcome to Suprose.
Why Su-prose? "Su" in Sanskrit is a prefix for "good". This is a place where we will discuss and analyze prose (with a South Asian Connection) - that which is good, awesome, excellent, and maybe rant about prose that could be better.
Whether you love prose, are a prose expert, or want to learn more about prose, or to put it simply want to have anything to do with prose, this blog is for you.

The Formula For Writing!!!
A great feature on thoughtcatalog.com lists some eye opening tips from great authors. If you want to hear it as it is, candid, with no rose tinted glasses, raw and to your face... then you must read these tips. Though you might have read a few of these earlier, it is certainly worth re-reading. What could be more inspiring than hearing these truths from the greats themselves!!!
Here are a few of my favorites --
However, here is a simple guideline I am trying (very very hard) to follow --
1-- Write with your heart
2-- Read your work like it was not written by you
3-- Edit with your head
4-- Repeat 1, 2, 3 over and over again!!!
The full article here.
Here are a few of my favorites --
- There are three rules for writing a novel. Unfortunately, no
one knows what they are.
― W. Somerset Maugham - If writing seems hard, it’s because it is hard. It’s one of
the hardest things people do.
– William Zinsser - Prose is architecture, not interior decoration.
– Ernest Hemingway - Write drunk, edit sober.
– Ernest Hemingway - Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative.
– Oscar Wilde

365 Days Of Inspiration!
And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.

"We may choose something like a star
To stay our minds on and be staid."
-- Robert Frost
Robert Frost
(1874-1963)
The above lines are from Frost's poem. The full poem below.
Choose Something Like a Star
(1916)
(1916)
O Star (the fairest one in sight),
We grant your loftiness the right
To some obscurity of cloud
It will not do to say of night,
Since dark is what brings out your light.
Some mystery becomes the proud.
But to be wholly taciturn
In your reserve is not allowed.
Say something to us we can learn
By heart and when alone repeat.
Say something! And it says "I burn."
But say with what degree of heat.
Talk Fahrenheit, talk Centigrade.
Use language we can comprehend.
Tell us what elements you blend.
It gives us strangely little aid,
But does tell something in the end.
And steadfast as Keats' Eremite,
Not even stooping from its sphere,
It asks a little of us here.
It asks of us a certain height,
So when at times the mob is swayed
To carry praise or blame too far,
We may choose something like a star
To stay our minds on and be staid.
We grant your loftiness the right
To some obscurity of cloud
It will not do to say of night,
Since dark is what brings out your light.
Some mystery becomes the proud.
But to be wholly taciturn
In your reserve is not allowed.
Say something to us we can learn
By heart and when alone repeat.
Say something! And it says "I burn."

365 Days Of Inspiration!
I don't ever know where I'm going. Because one of the wonderful things about writing, which is different than working in programming, you don't need to know. You could just write and discover where you're going. And it's a great deal of fun. -- Walter Mosley
I think of this quote as I go into the last day of this years Muse and The Marketplace conference in Boston, where Walter Mosley will be the keynote speaker! So excited to hear him speak.
Read this article in The Atlantic about the two sentences that "turned him from a 16-year-old consumer of the printed word into a creator."

Sometimes, it is best to be quiet and just absorb information, like I am doing today at the wonderful Muse and The Marketplace conference.... Amazing how inspired and motivated I am feeling, just listening to the charismatic speakers and absorbing all this wonderful energy around me!!!
